Tips for getting started with paddle boards

It mainly introduces the beginner skills tutorial of paddle board from five aspects: board board, stand board, paddle board, fall into the water, and board board after falling into the water.

1. Upper board
1) Push the paddle board into shallow water, stand next to the paddle board, and be careful not to let the tail fin stick in the sand. This is a common mistake made by beginners.

2) Put one foot on the board first, in a kneeling position, which can lower the center of gravity and make it easier to maintain stability.

3) Kneel on the board with both knees and adjust your position as needed until the board feels stable enough.

2. Station board
1) Slowly stand on one foot, with your foot in the best position where your knees are, and continue to hold the paddle to help stabilize yourself.

2) Keep the width of your feet consistent with the width of your shoulders, bend your knees slightly, and adjust your center of gravity.

3) Keep your head and shoulders steady and upright, and use the strength of your waist and hips to control the paddle, look forward, and don't stare at your feet.

3. Paddle
1) Forward paddling method
Insert the paddle into the water, keep the arm straight, press the paddle handle with one hand, and use the strength of the waist to pull the paddle back to the ankle, then leave the water and repeat the operation.

To keep going in a straight line, you need to alternate strokes on both sides of the board, four or five strokes on one side, then switch sides.

If you want to turn, you can always paddle on one side, paddle to the left, turn the paddle to the right, and vice versa, the further out the paddle, the greater the turn.

2) Reverse paddle method
Reverse paddling is mainly used to slow down, stop and turn, it is basically the opposite of forward paddling.

As with the forward paddle, keep your arms straight and use the strength of your waist to paddle backwards to forwards.

3) Sweeping paddle method
Sweeping paddles are very effective for steering the paddle while stationary or moving.

If you're going to turn left, use your waist, legs, and hips to turn the paddle to the left, and vice versa, by making a half-arc from the nose to the tail on the right side of the board.

4) Side-pull paddle method
The side pull method is mainly used for landing or changing course.

To dock to the right, turn your shoulders to the right, insert the paddle into the water to the right of the paddle, and pull toward the paddle to move the paddle to the right.

The tail fin is not very friendly to sideways rowing and will cause the tail to move slower than the nose, allowing the paddle to be inserted closer to the tail.

5) Bow paddle method
The bow stroke method is suitable for quick line adjustments while moving. To turn right, rotate your body to the left and bring your right shoulder forward. Fully insert the paddle into the water on the left side of the nose, then make a large arc to the right side of the tail.

4. Fall into the water
Despite your best efforts to keep your balance on the board, you will inadvertently fall into the water, even for professional paddlers.

If you fall into the water, remember to fall into the water, not on the board, which is more likely to cause injury.

When in the water, try to grab your paddle, and if you lose it, retrieve your paddle first, then use your hands to replace the paddle.

Therefore, it is recommended that everyone be sure to fasten the foot rope, which can help you get back to the board as soon as possible when you fall into the water.

5. Put on the board after falling into the water
Grasp the handle of the paddle board with one hand and reach forward while pulling the handle, while the other hand grasps the edge of the board and slides yourself onto the board.

If it is the first time to play paddle board, it is necessary to remind newbies:

1. Try to choose a still water lake or pond without obstacles such as boats and buoys;

2. Choose a sunny day with no wind;

3. Don't paddle alone, invite friends together and take care of each other;

4. For the first paddling, choose a water area that you are familiar with, and do not row too far;

5. Be sure to tie a foot rope and wear a life jacket.
